For Ferrolterra there isn't one “best site.” There is a routine: models (Windguru, MeteoGalicia), live ocean check (PORTUS · Estaca de Bares), generic break UI (Surf-Forecast), then the beach decision.

A Marea (atalaia.gal) is that last step: height on the sand (not a model point tens of km offshore), per-spot tide, wind, and a local read for Pantín, Doniños, Valdoviño and the rest of the Costa Ártabra. It doesn't replace Windguru or PORTUS; it compiles what matters on the sand.

Recommended routine

  1. Windguru + MeteoGalicia: Swell, period, direction, hourly wind; MG for the Galician model.
  2. PORTUS: Estaca de Bares buoy and real open-ocean state.
  3. Surf-Forecast / Surfline: Second opinion. SF wave points are often offshore, not breaking height.
  4. A Marea · Atalaia: Where and when on the sand: coastal transfer, per-beach tide, local read.

Use AEMET marine for coastal warnings or dangerous seas. Not the everyday beach tool.

Best for comparing wind and swell models. Search Pantín, Doniños or Valdoviño. Look at height, period, direction and hourly wind.

Local Galician source: sea state, wind, waves and tides with regional models. The base A Marea also uses.

What the ocean is actually doing. Estaca de Bares buoy and northern-Galician data to see if the swell has landed.
Surf-Forecast
Quick break view. Caveat: the Pantín or Valdoviño model point can be far offshore. The predicted height is not the wave on the sand.

Second opinion and cams where available. Don't trust the rating alone.
