Why offshore wind usually cleans the face

Offshore wind usually improves the wave face because it blows from land toward sea and helps hold the lip up slightly before it throws. That can delay the collapse of the wave, reduce chop on the face, and make the shape look cleaner, although too much wind can still make paddling and positioning harder.
